Accessibility-first layouts that also convert

2026-11-02 · 7 min read

WCAG 2.2 AA asks for usable contrast (roughly 4.5:1 for body text), focus that is not hidden behind sticky bars, and controls that work without drag gestures. Those rules sound legalistic until you watch a guest on a bright phone screen miss a pale “Book now” button.

Accessible design usually means clearer hierarchy, larger tap targets and one primary CTA — the same habits that lift conversion for hospitality and SME sites across the North East.

A short checklist before you launch

Tab through every page with the keyboard. Confirm focus rings are visible on dark and light themes. Check body copy at ~16px with comfortable line length. Keep help and contact links in a consistent place. Offer reduced-motion behaviour when you ship decorative animation.

If you need a ruthless pass, ask for a teardown that includes accessibility and Core Web Vitals together — visitors do not experience them separately.
